March Round-up

I'm going to try and start doing these again, so you can find easier to keep up if you're a not-so-regular visitor to the site. This will be the highlights of the last month but to see it in every single post of the month - you can click here.
  • We launched the 5th anniversary celebration of MPZ, by giving the site a makeover. It looks best in Firefox or Google Chrome.
  • The Flash Gallery became 'Movies' but it's still the same old nonsense. You can download most animations in mp4 format now too!
  • The series previously referred to as ud8.tv is now called 'Lovebytes' and has a snazzy new minisite
  • I made a promo video for Proving Ground's new album Through The Red Door. It's got zombies in it.
  • The booty section was updated.

Ch-ch-changes again

Believe it or not, Monkey Pirate Zombie will be 5 years old on 28th of April 2009! Woo! Go us! Who wants to make us a cake? Anyhoos as part of an early Birthday present I've given the site a bit of a makeover, sort of a version 2.0 of the new look that was launched last summer, as you should be able to see. What else is new? The 'Flash' section is now called 'movies'- I felt that as flash can mean movies or interactive games (and most videos can be downloaded too now) I needed to distinguish the animations. So The page has been redesigned- it's less flashy but much easier to maintain and keep up to date. Ud8tv finally has a proper mini-site and a new name to go with it- Lovebytes. The site map has been redone, and from now on if you'll find yourself there if you stumble on a broken link as well.

A little explanation

OK, so having had one before and removing it I've reinstated the Paypal donate button in the sidebar. I won't ever beg or anything, but cards on the table time: if you feel like you'd like to contribute to the site but find the merchandise too expensive, then making a small donation ultimately could mean that I get the same amount. I get a couple of bucks from each sale so if you donate a similar ammount, you can support the site while making a smaller outlay. Any donations would be greatfully recieved (and all donors will be sent some exclusive artwork). If you feel like it click the button to the right. But no pressure.

Simply Booty-ful

I have updated the Booty section (a.k.a. downloads) and added some new wallpapers and avatars, some relating to our latest zombie-tastic animation. The below image is available as wallpapers in various sizes, check out the wallpaper section to find the one that suits you best.

Through The Red Door

I can finally reveal what I've been working on now. A little while ago, Paulo (you may know him as The Protector, the very talented composer of the MPZ theme among others) asked me to make a video to promote the release of his upcoming third album with his band Proving Ground. In typically overambitious fashion I set to work on a zombie epic. Eventually I had to scale back my ambitions slightly but I'm pleased with the result. It's my first action animation, and is quite different in style to anything else I've done to date, so I'd be interested to hear if you'd like to see more in the same vein. A word of warning- it contains violence against zombies.

Click here to watch the high quality Flash version (recommended) or you can see it on Youtube here (less high quality). Proving Ground's new album is due this spring, and the first single is being released on 13th of March, so if you like the music you can buy it soon! Visit their site here

This is also available as the latest podcast.

I don't generally get too specific with ETAs for things I'm working on (as they generally change, often for reasons beyond my control) but I'm going out on a limb here by telling you my latest animation project is nearing completion. I intend to get it done in the next week (although it's by no means definite) so keep checking back and you should have something new to gawp at in the very near future.
